BANGALORE: Most parts of coastal Karnataka and Kerala, and many places of interior Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema regions (AP) and Lakshadweep received heavy rainfall on Sunday as the southwest monsoon grew active.Agumbe in Shimoga district received maximum rainfall of 10 cm.While Kammardi and Sringeri (both in Chikmagalur district) and Thalaguppa in Shimoga district recorded 9 cm rainfall each, Madikeri received only 7 cm.The other places which recorded considerable rainfall were: Belthangady in Dakshina Kannada district, Londa in Belgaum district and Jayapura in Chikmagalur district (6 cm each), Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district, Jagalbet, Kadra, Manchikere and Siddapura (all Uttara Kannada dt), Kottigehara in Chikmagalur district, Bhagamandala in Kodagu district and Hosanagara in Shimoga district (5 cm each).A rainfall of 4 cm was recorded in Bantwal and Puttur (both Dakshina Kannada district), Gerusoppa (Uttara Kannada district), Madapura and Napoklu (both Kodagu district) and Linganamakki (Shimoga district).Yellapur (Uttara Kannada district), Belgaum airport, Sankeshwar (Belgaum district), Dharwad, Lakkavalli (Chikmagalur district), Ammathy and Somwarpet (both Kodagu district ) , Hunchadakatte and Thyagarthy (both Shimoga district) recorded 3 cm of heavy rainfall. However, rains started relenting in most parts of Belgaum city later in the day.Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings that heavy rains will continue to disrupt daily lives across the state.Though Bangalore is expected to receive consistent rains, other parts of the state would receive considerably more rains.According to IMD, coastal Karnakata and the Ghat regions of the state will continue to receive ‘heavy to very heavy rainfall’.They stated that many regions in south interior Karnataka and north interior Karnataka would receive consistent rains, but the same has not been classified as heavy rainfall by IMD.The city, however, received more than 9 mm rains until 5.30 pm on Sunday with more rains expected in the following days.
