New Delhi: In wake of a slew of 'hate speeches' and the violence that followed in many states recently, the National Commission for Minorities' on Tuesday rapped the Central government seeking a public statement reassuring the minorities that their rights won't be compromised with.
Passing a resolution in this concern, the panel condemned communally charged statements by prominent people in public life.
"Government must assure minorities' constitutional rights of safety, security and equality cannot be compromised at any cost," it said.
It added that the Centre should take a stern stand and not tolerate any bid to create atmosphere of fear and mistrust. "Government must send clear signal it is committed to the protection and security of all citizens," the panel said.
