KALPETTA: In the backdrop of the cholera outbreak, the state government would set up 50 model sanitation complexes in the tribal settlements of the district, apart from allotting five ambulances exclusively for the cholera-affected settlements, Health Minister Adoor Prakash said here on Saturday. He was participating in a review meeting of the district-level officials and people’s representatives at the Collectorate here. In the first two months, the ambulances would be hired for the service and later it would be made a permanent system, he added. The district administration would bear the expenses of the vehicle hired in emergency situations for hospitalising cholera patients, he said. To conduct cleaning programmes in all wards of the district on a war footing. Rs 12,05,000 has already been allotted, he added. The money would be deposited in the joint account of panchayat presidents and the concerned medical officer. A monitoring cell also would be formed for the purpose. As part of emergency cholera resistance activities, Rs 5 lakh would be allotted to the Ayurveda medical department. To cater to the interior hamlets, 50 tribal promoters would be appointed spending Rs 15 lakh from Scheduled Tribes fund. A one-day workshop would be organised soon to discuss the issues faced by the health sector of the district, the minister said.
