BSP will consider withdrawing support to the UPA govt after March 10.

Bhopal: The BSP will consider withdrawing support to the Congress-led UPA government after March 10, UP Chief Minister Mayawati said on Sunday.

''The Congress and its alliance partners are worried over the BSP’s widening mass base and that is why they want to exert political pressure on me by reopening the Taj Corridor case,'' she alleged while addressing a BSP rally in Bhopal.

"At present the Budget session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly is on. We will consider withdrawal of support to the UPA after the session is over on March 10," she said.

The BSP chief alleged the Congress would do anything to stop her party’s increasing influence in the country.

"Jealous of BSP's growth, opposition parties are raking up fake cases against me to mount political pressure," she alleged adding: "first the BJP raised the issue of Taj Corridor case and now the Congress-led Government is trying to reopen it."

Mayawati said she would not succumb to political pressure and manipulation even at the cost of her life.

''Times change and when trouble reaches the doorsteps of opposition leaders' kin, they will comprehend my pain. Attempts are underway to register cases against my aged parents and other relatives. However, I am least perturbed as the respect and courage that I received from the BSP will be lifelong assets,'' she added.

Alleging “personal attacks” on her, the BSP leader, claimed the BJP and Congress had misused government machinery and to "cause pain to me, my 82-year-old parents and relatives".

"They don't know the pain. After the tables turn (if the BSP comes to power at the Centre), I will make sure they are aware of the pain caused to me, my parents and relatives," she said.

"I ask the opposition parties to refrain from personal attacks as it is not a good tradition for healthy politics."

Speaking on the Centre’s decision not to give her security by the Special Protection Group, she said it was another move by Congress to mount pressure on her.
