Mary Kom nominated for Khel Ratna

New Delhi: World women's boxing champion M C Mary Kom has been nominated for the country's highest sporting honour -- the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna.

Mary Kom, who is world champion in the light-flyweight division has won a record three straight titles, the last of which came in Delhi.

Her name has been recommended to the sports ministry by the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation just hours before the deadline was to expire.

Mary Kom had won the Padma Shree this year.
