Haryana’s Subhan Khan emerged a hero after rescuing nine people marooned on a bridge amid floods in Telangana. Khan drove a bulldozer into the bridge to rescue the people stranded on it. Torrential downpours in Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh have led to flooding in low-lying areas.
Nine people were trapped on the Prakash Nagar bridge on the Munneru River in Telangana’s Khammam district after the rise in water level following heavy rain. They recorded a video requesting the state government to rescue them, following which, a chopper was pressed into action but could not reach the spot due to bad weather.
With no help in sight, Subhan Khan decided to take matters into his own hands and rescue the group stuck on the bridge with the help of his bulldozer, an NDTV report said. He was warned by the others of the risk involved in the action, to which, he said, “If I die, it is one life, but if I return, I will save nine.”
Khan was successful in rescuing the nine people stranded on the bridge. A video of the incident was shared on the microblogging site. A voice in the video, purportedly that of Khan’s daughter, could be heard saying, “I am shivering, my daddy, he managed to do what he set out to.”

As many as 31 people have died in rain-related incidents due to heavy rainfall in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Incessant rain has left thousands of acres of agricultural crops submerged and left people scampering for daily needs as rescue agencies were pressed into rehabilitation efforts.
