Mumbai: Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party are holding core committee meetings today to discuss the issue of seat sharing ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
BJP President Amit Shah is scheduled to go to Mumbai on Thursday to hold a meeting with state party workers. Shah is also likely to meet Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray.
This comes after the smaller parties of the grand Mahayuti alliance rejected the BJP's offer of contesting 7 seats. The Republican Party of India, the Rashtriya Samaj Party and Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghathana have now threatened to contest the polls alone.
On Tuesday, Sena proposed 151 seats for itself and agreed to BJP's demand of 130 seats, but offered only 7 seats to its other allies.
