New Delhi: Nandan Nilekani, contesting as Congress candidate in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, resigned as the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Chairman on Thursday evening. This after he officially joined the Congress at a simple ceremony in KPCC office in Bangalore on March 9.
The Congress has fielded Nilekani as its candidate against five time BJP MP and its national general secretary HN Ananth Kumar from the prestigious Bangalore South Lok Sabha seat.
The former IT Czar, co-founder of Infosys and Aadhar founder chairman Nilekani will be making his political debut in this election. The 58-year-old Congress leader was born and brought up in Bangalore.
After joining the Congress party, Nilekani claimed that there was no Narendra Modi wave in the country while praising Rahul Gandhi. "Rahul Gandhi's ideas are revolutionary. He is an agent of change and has brilliant ideas," he had said in an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN. Nilekani also said that he intended to partner Rahul in making that change happen.
