New Delhi: Cricket and films go hand in hand in this country and the latest cricketer to take the plunge is Anil Kumble who will be doing a cameo in a cricket-based film titled Meerabai Not Out.
And giving Kumble company is the high priestess of Indian cricket, or so the nation thinks, Mandira Bedi.
The film is being produced by Pritish Nandy Communications and directed by award-winning Marathi director Chandrakant Kulkarni. The sporty flick has an ensemble cast of Anupam Kher, Mahesh Manjrekar and Eijaz Khan.
Mandira’s husband Raj Kaushal, who had earlier directed Anthony Kaun Hai, will be the producer.
The leading lady’s stint with the gentleman’s game is now famous. Mandira shot to fame with Sony Entertainment Television’s cricket show Extraaa Innings during the last World Cup. She will be a part of next year’s cricket World Cup as well.
Meerabai Not Out will go on the floors by the end of December in Mumbai and the makers of the film are hoping to release it before the World Cup next year.
