Kolli Hills: 2.73 crore developement works begin

NAMAKKAL: Infrastructure development work at a cost of Rs 2.73 crore has begun on Kolli hills as part of an endeavour to turn it into a major destination for tourism.The works are being carried out as the state has released Rs 1.37 crore as the first installment of the total allocation. Collector J Kumaragurubharan said that high mast lamps will be fitted in the area surrounding the Semmedu bus terminus atop the hills, besides setting up sanitation facilities. Similar works are being taken up at the Vasalur Garden as well. Sanitation facilities, a parking lot and equipment at the children’s park will be repaired. A new entrance and an arch will be created at the boat house in Vasalurpatti and four more boats are to  be purchased, said the Collector on Monday. The Masilla falls will get a face lift with the laying of tar roads, sanitation facilities. All works are expected to be completed by the end of March, the collector said.
