GUDIVADA (Krishna dist): The long wait of a couple for the safe return of their kidnapped son ended in grief when the boy was found dead on Tuesday.The body of Matti Anvesh Chandra (11), who was kidnapped from his school on September 26, was recovered from a small pit in an abandoned area near his residence at Satyanarayanapuram in Gudivada in the district.Cops investigating the case have caught five youths, including two tenth class students, who were all reportedly addicted to a lavish lifestyle.The accused include a physically challenged tailor R Prabhu Kumar, said to be the mastermind, who was assisted by a degree student Arjun, a cellphone salesman Venkatesh besides the two school students.Anvesh, who had reached school as usual on September 26, was taken to the house of the tailor around 9.30 a.m.by the class 10 students who knew the boy, police sources said.It was from there that the alleged kidnappers called the parents of the boy and demanded `10 lakh for Anvesh’s release.Later, they told them they took the boy to Delhi.It is said that the kidnappers asked the parents, to leave the ransom amount in a bag at a particular bridge after crossing Khammam railway station.They promised to release the boy at the next railway station in Mahaboobabad.The parents reportedly did as they were told but did not find their son at Mahaboobabad station.It was then that they approached the police.Initially, the police suspected that people with personal enmity towards the boy’s father Venkata Ramesh, a s chool t e ache r i n Kowtharam of Gudlavalleru mandal, might have resorted to the kidnap.However, investigation by the police team led by SP Ramakrishna led them to the five youth and nabbed them from a hotel room in Vijayawada.One of the accused reportedly confessed to the police that they murdered the boy and buried him in Gudivada.However, police sources said that the boy’s body was found dead in a small pit, his mouth gagged and his body tied with ropes.Gudivada inspector P Satyanarayana said the accused had targeted Anvesh after learning that his father made good money through cricket betting.
