Thiruvananthapuram: A Kerala Film director has revealed that he was the victim of sexual abuse in a madrasa.

Director Ali Akbar said the incident happened 40 years back and his abuser was a madrasa instructor who is still alive.

Talking about the incident, the director said, "The Kandavaram came to the scene and he argued "there is no evidence" I am telling him - I have evidence. My Ustad tried to rape me actually. It is 40 years back but even now, the same incident is happening in Kerala in madarsas. Everybody knows but they will not speak against because of the fear of religion actually."

Ali Akabar's revelation comes even as there is a raging row in the state after a journalist VP Rajeena posted on Facebook that her friends had faced abuse in madrasas.

Rajeena had faced abuses and her facebook account was locked after her revelation. Following the incident Sunni religious scholar, Kanthapuram Aboobacker Musa-leeyaar had slammed Rajeeena and said that there is no abuse in madrasas.
