UDHAGAMANDALAM: HR and CE Minister M S M Anandan reviewed the ongoing temple elephants rejuvenation camp at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve on Sunday. Out of 37 temple elephants at the annual rejuvenation camp at Mudumalai, close to a dozen elephants have been found suffering from minor health problems like cracked feet and wounds in legs. Forest Veterinary Doctor NS Mahonar said the treatment is simple and elephants have shown improvements after being treated here. He saw each of the 37 elephants and asked the mahouts if the pachyderms were healthy. The mahouts said that the animals were happy as they were given different kinds of food including herbal diet at the camps here. Mahouts have requested the government not to discontinue the camp, regretting the cancellation of this camp in the last five years during the DMK rule.
