Joint session model unlikely to solve Delhi stalemate, say experts
Delhi has been under President Rule ever since the Aam Aadmi Party government led by Arvind Kejriwal stepped down after 49 days of power in February.

New Delhi: Even as Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung explores ways to form a government, legal experts are of the opinion that the national capital cannot opt for a joint session model like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra as it does not have a Legislative Council.

This legal opinion along with the L-G's letter is likely to be forwarded to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and then Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Friday evening. Sources further said that Modi would take a final call in consultation with the Home Ministry and then forward the recommendation to President Pranab Mukherjee.

Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay will also meet Rajnath Singh and discuss the political stalemate in Delhi.

Jung has already submitted a report with the MHA wherein he sought permission from the President to consult BJP, the single largest party in the Assembly, to form government in Delhi.
