Udhampur: Just days after terrorists attacked a Border Security Force (BSF) convoy killing two personnel, there has been another terror strike in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. A police post in Basantgarh area was targeted on Thursday night around 9 pm.

Though there has been no firing since Friday morning, 4-5 terrorists are believed to be hiding in the area. The Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police have cordoned off the area. The search operation for the terrorists is underway.

The two special police officers who were injured have been taken to hospital in Ramnagar.

The attack came just a day after Indian security forces captured Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist Usman Khan alias Mohammad Naved after several hours of intense gunbattle.

On Wednesday morning, Usman and the other terrorists ambushed a Border Security Force (BSF) convoy in Narsoo in Udhampur, killing two soldiers and injuring eight others. In the ensuing gunbattle, BSF troopers killed one terrorist while Usman fled into the dense forests after taking three people hostage.

Usman was surrounded by a team of BSF and Army soldiers and a brief gunbattle followed after which he was captured.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the repeated terror attacks. He tweeted, "Another militant attack in Udhampur. What the heck is happening there? This was an area that was militant free for a number of years now."
