PHULBANI: A group of Special Operation Group jawans and local police had a narrow escape during a Maoist attack near Sonepur ghat under Daringibadi police limits in Kandhamal district on Tuesday. Kandhamal SP Jayanarayana Pankaj said around 40 SOG jawans and police personnel were engaged in combing operation near Daringibadi and Sonepur areas. While returning to their camp, a landmine exploded on the road near Sonepur ghat. Though the explosion took place a couple of minutes before the jawans crossed the road, two jawans sustained injuries by splinters. Following the incident, the area was cordoned off and three persons were arrested.
