Its vote for performance, says Jaya

CHENNAI: Describing the massive mandate for the AIADMK in the local body elections and the Tiruchy West by-election as a vote for the performance of her five-month-old government, CM J Jayalalithaa on Friday night profusely thanked the people for the verdict. “I strongly believed that the results of the local body elections will be a touchstone for performance of the AIADMK government led by me. My faith has been reassured. You have voted for the AIADMK in Tiruchy West by-election and in the local body elections in appreciation of my services to you,” Jayalalithaa said. Referring to the two-fold increase in the margin with which the AIADMK candidates won the by-election to the Tiruchy West constituency despite the absence of alliance parties, she said, “I treat this as your certificate for my government.”
