HYDERABAD: The Central Crime Station on Friday registered cases against the parents of Dr Chaitanya Reddy, who allegedly killed his wife Dr Kiran Reddy, niece of Union petroleum minister S Jaipal Reddy, for tampering with evidence in the case of murder and dowry harassment.City police said that Chaitanya Reddy’s father Devender Reddy, mother Rajeshwari and brother Nitin Reddy were arrested by the CCS police for allegedly tampering with evidence at the scene of murder besides harassing her for additional dowry. CCS assistant commissioner of police Raja Narasimha Reddy said that immediately after the death of Kiran Reddy, Chaitanya Reddy was assisted by his parents and brother in cleaning the froth ejected by Kiran Reddy. Chaitanya Reddy’s kin also harassed Kiran Reddy for additional dowry. “At the time of marriage, Chaitanya Reddy’s family took Rs 30 lakh worth of jewellery and Rs 10 lakh in cash. Subsequently, they demanded and took Rs 15 lakh on one occasion and Rs 10 lakh after the couple was blessed with a baby girl,’’ the ACP said. All the three accused were arrested and sent to judicial remand after registering cases under Sections 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and 498A (dowry harassment) of IPC.A month ago, Kiran Reddy was found died in the bedroom of her Jubilee Hills residence. After conducting an investigation, West Zone deputy commissioner of police Stephen Ravindra declared that Kiran Reddy had been murdered allegedly by her husband Chaitanya Reddy.
