THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Infosys Limited, the second largest IT Company in the country, has signed an agreement with Technopark here on Wednesday for availing 50 acres of land to set up its second campus with an aimed total investment of Rs 1,000 crore, under SEZ scheme in Technocity here. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, Finance Minister K M Mani, Infosys Executive Co-chairman Kris Gopalakrishnan and state IT Principal Secretary P H Kurian were witness to the signing of the agreement by H R Binod, Senior Vice-President, Infosys and K G Girish Babu, CEO of Technopark.Technopark senior business development manager M Vasudevan and general manager K V Rajendran were present on the occasion.Kris Gopalakrishnan, who lauded the changing investment climate in the state, said that Infosys was doing well at Technopark. He added that there were no labour issues at the Infosys centres here. The Thiruvananthapuram centre was the fastest growing centre of Infosys in the country at 30 per cent annually, he said.“Setting up of second campus of Infosys Limited in Kerala will have a major significance to the IT scene here. At present, Infosys contributes more than 21 per cent of the total IT export of the state with the content of Rs 608 crore out of the total Rs 2,875 crore during the 2010-11 fiscal. During 2012-13, Infosys has plans to add another 3,500 engineers in the existing campus at Technopark Phase-II, thus increasing its exports to Rs 800 crore. With the setting up of the new campus at Technocity, their contribution will provide a major boost to the state’s export revenues and also employment generation,’’ said P H Kurian on the occasion. K G Girish Babu said acquiring of land by Infosys for its second campus from Technopark proves the commitment and support that Technopark provides to its clients and the excellent relationship in vogue. “With the Technocity project on full swing, I am sure Kerala will become one of the most prominent IT powerhouses in the country,” he said. Infosys plans to set up more than 1 million sq ft of built-up space and to create employment to 10,000 engineers on the Technocity campus. The possible export from this SEZ campus would be of the order of `1,500 crore over the next 5 to 8 years.
