HYDERABAD: The death of an infant soon after delivery at Kondapur in the wee hours of Thursday sparked a protest by the family who alleged that the delivery was performed by a male ward boy in the absence of the doctor. The parents allegedly slapped a nurse and staged a demonstration alleging negligence.According to cops, Ruksana (20), wife of Nizar from Ramachandrapuram, was admitted to Kondapur area hospital on July 19 for the delivery. Around 2.30 a.m, Ruksana had labour pains and her attendants alerted duty nurse. The nurse went searching for the doctor and did not return in time.“A male ward boy, Shiromani, went into the labour room and performed the delivery and the baby died,’’ Ruksana’s family alleged.The doctors, however, manitained that the ward boy went into the room to arrange oxygen cylinder. The doctor and nurse returned after some time and scolded the family for creating a ruckus.
