New Delhi: A day after CNN-IBN exposed how the Asiatic lion was on the verge of extinction and 12 lions were killed in the Gir National Park, Environment Minister A Raja has reacted and has said that it will follow-up the case.
He has also said that the Govt would summon forest ministers of Gujarat and MPs for discussion.

Wildlife experts are worried that a single epidemic could wipe out the entire lion population of India. An option to avoid the mass annihilation of lions is translocation. The Kuno Forest Reserve in Madhya Pradesh has already spent several crores of rupees preparing a new home for the lions. However, Gujarati pride has come in the way.
Documents with CNN-IBN reveal that the Ministry of Environment and Forests had proposed to translocate a few lions from Gujarat 15 years ago. The idea was to start a fresh population at Kuno Forest Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, but that never happened.
