New Delhi: The mindset with which indie films are made in India is a topic of research in itself. These filmmakers don't get enough screens for their ventures, but that doesn't dilute down their spirits.
Independent filmmakers in India work in difficult conditions and under severe pressure from their financiers. The only thing which keeps them marching forward is their zeal to excel at any cost. As a result, every now and then we see a sparkling film which defies all the rules and general norms.
In last couple of years, a kind of boom is happening in the indie film market. The directors have become more vocal about their intellectual style of filmmaking, and it seems they are ready to cash on the changing mindset of urban audience. There was a time when a film without a recognisable star was considered as a commercially non-viable move, but with the emergence of filmmakers like Anurag Kashyap and Onir the situation is fast changing.
Interestingly, the indie filmmakers are making inroads into the key markets as the content is ruling the market. In fact, many new directors are willing to take the risk of making a film first and then finding a distributor for it.
The year 2013 was a landmark year for Indian indie projects. The arrival of intellectually sound people in all departments of filmmaking is making life tough for technicians who are doing their regular stuff since many years.
In a way, IBNLive Movie Awards is a platform to bring the work of people who are not getting limelight despite a good job to everyone's notice. And, that's why we are not surprised to see the close contest in this section.
The films which are featured in this section are 'BA Pass', 'Ankur Arora Murder Case', 'Peddlers', 'Listen Amaya' and 'Maazii'.
The makers of these films were relatively new people, but their work is better than many veterans.
Surprisingly, the film which is leading the race is 'Maazii', which is marginally ahead of better publicised films like 'BA Pass' and 'Listen Amaya'.
'Maazii' is leading the race with 41.69 percent vote share. 'Peddlers' and 'BA Pass' are battling it out for the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively with 23.87 percent and 21.73 percent vote shares. 'Ankur Arora Murder Case' is at number 4 with 7.62 percent of total votes, while 'Listen Amaya' is at the last spot with 5.09 percent votes.
However, the game is still open and can be changed at any moment, because all you need is public support. The voting process will remain open for some more days, so keep voting.
