Bollywood comes out to support World's Anti-Tobacco Day.

Mumbai: With World Anti-Tobacco Day round the corner, it is no surprise that Bollywood is jumping in to support the cause, and making a song and dance of it in the process.

At a musical event to mark the occasion, celebrated composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy belted out their biggest hits and some big filmy names showed up to add a dash of glamour.

Amidst all the fanfare one managed to find at least one voice that had a real point to make.

“I thought smoking was cool. Actually I was a big fool. After that I quit smoking and by God’s grace, I have never gone back to smoking,” says actor Vivek Oberoi.

However, on Health Minister Ramadoss’s proposed ban on showing actors smoking on screen, Vivek said, “This way, we will land up banning all art forms. Soon we will ban all sensuality on screen and in the bargain strangle all art forms. We must allow people to have a choice,” adds Vivek Oberoi.

Towing a similar line, director Farah Khan says, “I think the youth is intelligent enough. By me telling them not to smoke, nothing will change. Even if their parents ask them to quit smoking, they would not listen.”

It is needless to say that the Health Minister has not made too many friends in Bollywood.
