HYDERABAD: Twelve persons, including two MBA students, who were involved in robbery at the house belonging to a realtor from Puttaparthi were arrested on Friday. The accused were of the impression the realtor was in possession of huge amount of Satya Sai Baba's money, police said.
The attack took place on the house of 58-year-old Narayana Raju, who resides at Tumkunta.
On October 18, a group of persons forcibly entered his house and took away 10 tola gold ornaments.
"There were rumours in the village that a huge amount was allegedly shifted out of Satya Sai Baba's Prasanthi Nilayam after his death and stashed in his house," Shamirper police subinspector Ganesh Patel said.
Investigating into the case, police arrested Niranjan, the kingpin of the gang and 11 others.
"Niranjan, a businessman earlier used to reside in the same locality. He also believed the cash is stashed in Narayana Raju's house and gathered 11 others to rob the amount," the SI said.
Two MBA students, Saleem and Gopal, were also arrested.
