KANHANGAD: A housewife was stabbed to death by servant in Madikkai on Sunday night. Jisha, 24, daughter-in-law of Kunhikannan Nair of Adukkath Parambil house was stabbed on the back at the kitchen around 8.30pm.The assailant Madanan, 26, a native of Bengal escaped after committing the crime.According to police, Jisha was stabbed when she was engaged in cooking. The police said Madanan was working as servant in the house for the last six months. He was brought to attend on Kunhikannan Nair, who was bedridden.The deceased was the wife of Rajendran, son of Kunhikkannan Nair, who was working in the Gulf. Police said it might be a case of mistaken identity since he had harboured enmity towards Lekha, sister-in law of Jisha, who used to admonish Madanan.Police said power had gone off in the house and Lekha, who was earlier working at the kitchen, entrusted the kitchen work to Jisha to attend on her baby. Madanan stabbed Jisha in the darkness mistaking her for Lekha.Jisha was rushed to a private hospital in Neeleswaram, but she died on the way to Mangalore.The body of Jisha was sent to the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for postmortem on Monday morning. The police are on the look for the assailant.
