BANGALORE: State JD(S) chief H D Kumaraswamy said that he would go on an indefinite hunger strike if Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa does not order an inquiry into the charges of ill-gotten wealth levelled against the Gowda family.“It is easy to make allegations and run away. I will set a deadline of one week for the CM to decide the nature of the probe. If not, I will go on an indefinite hunger strike,” Kumaraswamy told reporters here on Thursday. As per the BJP’s estimate, the total property of the former PM’s family is about `1,500 crore.Claiming that the chargesheet was full of false and misleading facts, Kumaraswamy accused Yeddyurappa of making attempts to tarnish the image and credibility of Gowda and his family members.Kumaraswamy claimed that his family has bought lands and buildings from private people by making proper payments and accused Yeddyurappa’s children of taking sites from the BDA by fraudulent means.“We have not been benefited by the government, like the CM. We have paid all the taxes and IT returns periodically.According to the JD (S) chief, all the brothers have been living separately after the division of the ancestral property and there has been no financial connection between the families. On the issue of granting licence to 47 mining companies during his tenure, Kumaraswamy said his job as CM was only to recommend to the Centre and it is the Union government which sanctions the mining lease.
