HYDERABAD: The High Court on Wednesday set aside a single judge’s interim order in respect of the selection process for posts of principal, post-graduate teachers (PGTs) and trained graduate teacher (TGTs) in model Schools.Dealing with a writ appeal filed by the government against the interim order, a division bench -- comprising justice V Eswaraiah and justice K G Shankar -- posted the case for hearing by another single judge next Monday.In the meantime, the government has been asked to go ahead with the recruitment exam for the posts, but not declare the results till final orders are passed.The bench directed the High Court registry to place the case before chief justice Madan B Lokur with a request that it be entrusted to a single judge with a directive to reach a verdict on it by the end of April.In case the matter was not disposed of by May 10, then candidates who have applied for the posts based on the single judge’s direction can appear for the written test.The bench pointed out that the matter had come up before a single judge who refused to grant interim relief as sought by the petitioner, but a second single judge consented to do so.As there were contrary views on the issue, the bench decided to refer the case to a third single judge.The case began with Telugu medium candidates challenging the recruitment process announced by the government.The recruitment policy stipulated that candidates must have studied in the English medium at least three levels for the principal posts and two levels for the posts of PG and trained graduate teachers.Single judge justice B Chandra Kumar, in an interim order dated March 21, directed the government to accept applications from Telugu medium candidates.Following this directive by the single judge, the DSE modified its online interface to receive applications from Telugu medium candidates too till 4 pm Tuesday.While accepting the Telugu applications, the government decided to appeal against the interim order What’s This All About?The government is in the process of recruiting for 7100 posts of principals (355), PGTs (4615) and TGTs (2130) in model schools.The recruitment process is being piloted by the State Selection Committee and will consist of a written test and an interview.The written test for TGTs and PGTs is scheduled for May 10 and for principal posts May 11.The last date for receipt of applications was March 27. About two lakh applications were received for the posts.
