New Delhi: The Gujarat government on Wednesday restored PC Pandey, a 1972 batch Indian Police Service officer, as the Director General of Police after a gap of nearly three months.
On October 15 the Election Commission (EC) had ordered the transfer of Pandey and five others from election-related duties in the state. KR Kaushik was appointed as the new DGP following the EC’s directive.

The Gujarat Assembly polls were held in two phases on December 11 and 16 with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sweeping to power riding on the Modi wave.
The other senior police officers who were transferred on EC’s directive included Commissioner of Police, Ahmedabad, J Mahapatra, Deputy Inspector-General, Border Range IM Desai, Superintendent of Police, Patan district, JN Rajgor, Superintendent of Police, Rajkot district, ND Solanki and Superintendent of Police, Tapi district, SK Gadhavi.
