Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi on Thursday greeted people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. In a message on the eve of the festival, the governor expressed hope that its message of peace, sacrifice and brotherhood would strengthen human values and bring about harmony and compassion in society.
He called upon people to come forward and generously help the victims of the natural disaster in Uttarakhand along with other weak and underprivileged sections.
The real joy of Eid-ul-Fitr is not only to share the happiness but also to be a partner in the misery and tears of those who lost everything they had in the tragedy, he said. Qureshi asked people to celebrate the festival in a low key and simple manner to express solidarity with the disaster victims of the state.
