He asked the district collectors to demolish all unused and unsafe buildings and take up repair works of all old buildings from different permissible funds.The Chief Secretary further requested them to see to it that shifting work from unsafe to safe buildings is completed within three days.Several districts have not submitted reports due to delay in conducting survey.As monsoon is active and many parts of the State are experiencing rainfall, the survey of all the buildings housing angnwadi centres, primary schools and hospitals was not possible, official sources said, adding that repair of buildings is also not possible for the same reason.The collectors were also asked to complete the survey by a special team in a week and take measures for the repair of buildings or make alternative arrangements.Besides, the Revenue Divisional Commissioners (RDCs) have been asked to make a review of the buildings of the three public institutions every year before the monsoon on a priority basis.The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Assembly recently rapped the State Government for the poor condition of the anganwadi centres despite huge flow of funds from the Centre and lack of information about the number of unsafe buildings.Leader of Opposition and PAC Chairman Bhupinder Singh told this paper that he is not sure whether the district collectors have submitted their reports to the State Government on the condition of the buildings of these public institutions.first published:January 01, 1970, 05:30 ISTlast updated:January 01, 1970, 05:30 IST
