KOCHI: Revenue Minister Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishan inaugurated the one-month long celebrations of the Kerala State Hindi Pracharak Samiti in Justice Krishna Iyer’s residence on Tuesday. “It is our national language and has played a role in binding us, and hence should be promoted”, said the minister.The celebrations are being organised as part of the Hindi Day, to be observed on September 14 every year. Justice Krishna Iyer inaugurated Sharada Krishna Iyer Hindi library established by the Samithi to commemorate the memory of Sharada Krishna Iyer.He also handed over the first book to the library - ‘Ek Karmayogi Ki Aatmakatha’, a biography of Dr M Chandrasekaran Nair, compiled by Kausalya Ammaal - to writer M K Sanu. “More people should be able to appreciate the value of Hindi literature,” said Krishna Iyer.  The Samiti expressed its gratitude to the government for doubling the pension amount of Hindi khadi volunteers.Certificates and medals were given to winners of state and national teacher’s awards - Mathew Cheriyan and E P Shamsudeen. P K P Kartha, president of Hindi pracharak samiti, Thilakam Kaavalar, AA Babu Raj and  KC George were also honoured on the occasion.
