New Delhi: Having already unveiled its first wearable device - Google Glass - the company reportedly is working on yet another wearable gadget. Citing a person familiar with the matter, The Wall Street Journal reports that Google, in collaboration with LG, is preparing an Android smartwatch.
If the report is to be believed, LG will make a version of the Google smartwatch, but other manufacturers may also be involved. However, an official spokesperson from Google declined to comment.
CNET, on the other hand, reports that the smartwatch will make its debut at Google's I/O conference, while the smartwatch-centric software could be disclosed in March.
Notable tipster @evleaks revealed similar details in a tweet. The tweet from @evleaks reads, "Apparently Google's smartwatch is being made by LG, and will launch at I/O."
LG spokeswoman Kim So-yeong declined to comment on news reports that LG will make a version of Google's smartwatch. LG already makes some of Google's Nexus mobile products.
The smartwatch from Google is expected to be integrated with Google Now, the company's voice assistant that gives users almost all information from web browsing to weather updates to traffic forecasts.
Details about Google's upcoming smartwatch come close on the heels of Samsung's announcement at MWC 2014 that its next-gen smartwatches will be powered by Tizen OS.
