A 11-year-old girl and her mother suffered serious injuries after gangsters broke into their house and attacked them. The incident occurred on Paradise road near Kadavanthra on Friday night. The attack was following a police complaint lodged by the woman against the anti-social activities of the gang in the locality. The injured are Flavya, 11, and mother Preema, 40, wife of Antony of Kulangara House. Antony was not at home at the time of incident.
The six-member-gang first attacked Flavya who was standing outside the house. “Seeing them attacking Flavya I came out and they kicked and hit me with sticks. They snatched my two sovereigns of gold chain and fled the scene. Flavya’s twin sister ran out of the house and called the neighbours who rushed them to the General Hospital. We were in unconscious condition “ Preema said. Antony said that on September 1, Preema had given a complaint against the anti-social activities of the gang at an isolated area near their house. “There is an abandoned house and weedy plot near our house. These people used to come there to consume liquor and ganja. They disturbed the girls passing through the area. Often they peeped into our house and pelted stones. So we lodged a complaint against them. It was in retaliation to this they attacked us. Most of the boys are of 20-25 years of age,” Antony said.
Earlier, several others in the locality had complained against the gang. There were also complaints of prostitution at the abandoned house. But police ignored the complaints. Night patrolling is also not regular here, he said. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against Tony and five others. But all the miscreants are absconding. “They have not returned to their houses since Friday, “a police official at the Kadavanthra police station said.
