BANGALORE: Farmers pelted stones at the vehicles belonging to Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) when a team from NICE tried to acquire a piece of land for the Bangalore Mysore Infrastrcuture Corridor (BMIC) on Saturday morning near Sompura village near Kengeri.
Police said that unrest in the area started on Friday evening when a group of officials tried to fence in a piece of land and they were sent back by the farmers.A 42acre plot belonging to Basappa (70) is reportedly at the centre of the controversy. Basappa, who cultivates the land, refused to part with it. But the NICE officials wanted that particular plot for the construction of a commercial township.
