'Key Characters Missing': Sachin Pilgaonkar Explains Why Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi Sequel May Not Happen

Sachin Pilgaonkar is one of the leading names in Marathi cinema. Considered to be an ace filmmaker as well as an actor, in a recent interview, the actor discussed the possibility of a sequel to his 1988 superhit, Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi and what to expect in the future.

As per the latest reports, the internet was abuzz with the news of a possible sequel to Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi. Now, the director of the release, Sachin Pilgaonkar has provided a clarification on the matter, in a new interview.

The actor gave an interview to Radio City, where he mentioned that the project cannot go forth without certain actors and crew members. He stated, “This film cannot be made without Lakshya. Not only Lakshya, but also Siddharth who played the role of Sushant.” Speaking further, the actor added, “Sudhir Joshi, Vasant Sabnis, Arun Paudwal, Shantaram Nandgaonkar and many people from the team of Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi are not with us today. All of them contribute to the cinema, so the cinema cannot go ahead without these people.”

He continued, stating that some things are out of a person’s control and a sequel to Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi is one of those. The actor said, “I can’t say that I made this film. We made this film together. And people made it bigger.”

Released in 1988, Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi was made under the direction of Sachin Pilgaonkar. The film starred names like Ashok Saraf, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Laxmikant Berde, Siddharth Ray, Ashwini Bhave, Supriya Pilgaonkar, and Priya Berde among many others. It was produced by Kiran Shantaram under the banner of V Shantaram Productions. The music in the film is the work of Arun Paudwal while the cinematography was handled by Ram Allam and the editors were Avinash Thakur and Chintu Dhavale.

Sachin Pilgaonkar is currently busy with the shoot of his upcoming, Navra Maza Navsacha 2, a sequel to his 2005 hit, Navra Maza Navsacha. Earlier this February, the actor made an official announcement about the project.
