King Charles, on Tuesday, welcomed the Japanese Emperor and Empress, Naruhito and Masako Owada, to Buckingham Palace for a three-day visit. During his address, King Charles spoke about the close ties between Japan and the United Kingdom. He also spoke about their mutual love for tea, mountain climbing, Hello Kitty, and the Pokémon franchise, which the monarch mentioned was a favourite of his grandchildren.
As King Charles made a statement welcoming the Emperor and Empress of Japan, Prince William was seen listening keenly to his father. While Charles was laughing about his poor fishing and his grandchildren’s fascination with Pokemon, William acknowledged it with a smirk.
In the video shared on X, the King said, “I am only sorry to report that I haven’t had any better luck with more recent attempts at fishing.”
“The Pokémon phrase ‘gotta catch ’em all’ may resonate with my grandchildren, but for me it is, perhaps, aspirational,” he added.
