Ek Tha Tiger: Why Salman can never do a Damon
Ek Tha Tiger: Why Salman can never do a Damon
Salman has delivered some of the biggest hits of the Hindi film industry but he was always a star, not an actor.

New Delhi: The trailer of Salman Khan's new film 'Ek Tha Tiger' shows him doing daredevil stunts, mostly on the lines of Jason Bourne of the Bourne series, but will Salman be able to pull off the same magic as Matt Damon at the box office.

Salman Khan's status is at par with Matt Damon's in Hollywood, probably Salman is a bigger star than Damon when it comes to hardcore fan following, but doing his role of a RAW agent with the same fineness as Damon wouldn’t be easy for him.

Both the actors are different at many levels. Matt Damon graduated to become a leading actor after a string of films as supporting actor. This period probably taught Damon to focus more on the acting part than the star quotient. In due course of time, Matt Damon realised the importance of character building on the screen.

On the other hand, Salman Khan started with a superhit film 'Maine Pyar Kiya'. Not many noticed him in his first film 'Biwi Ho To Aisi'. Three more commercially successful films in 'Baaghi', 'Sanam Bewafa', and 'Patthar Ke Phool' made Salman a big star.

Gradually, Salman built an image which went down well with the popular imagination of the Hindi film audiences. His involvement in controversies helped him in achieving a status where he looked totally arrogant and the representative of rich and powerful to the common film lovers.

Matt Damon was more interested in film writing than acting in his initial days in Hollywood. 'Good Will Hunting' showcases his grip on the story part of the film. The practice to become a screen writer reflects in his roles. He excelled among bigger stars in 'Ocean's 11' only due to his grasp on subtlety.

Salman believes in being loud on the screen. The way he flaunts his body brings out the urge of being accepted as 'the hero'. Known for a very distinct style of dialogue delivery, Salman's image overshadows his films' themes.

He has delivered some of the biggest hits of the Hindi film industry but he was always a star, not an actor. Now, when 'Ek Tha Tiger' is all set to feature him as a RAW agent, one shouldn't expect Salman to become as subtle as Matt Damon.
