HYDERABAD: Students of the English and Foreign Languages University have decided to start a three-day protest from Tuesday, seeking appointment of a permanent vice-chancellor.The EFLU Teachers’ Association will also support the students to voice their own grievances, said Subhash of the Democratic Students Front, who are organising the protest. He said on the first day, teachers will boycott classroom-teaching from 10 a.m to 1 p.m and conduct classes on the lawns facing the vice-chancellor’s lodge. The second day will see a sit-in dharna. A rally from gate number 2 to VC’s office will take place on the third day.“We will continue our protests until a permanent VC is appointed,” said Subhash. Most students felt that with appointment of a VC, they can at least start a dialogue so that their problems are at least taken under consideration. Most students said the unorganised administration, inadequate facilities and several other issues can be addressed only with the appointment of a VC. The EFLU has not had a permanent VC for over a year.“A large-scale protest will take place, if the situation did not improve,” a student said.
