Efforts to bring in more special educators

PUDUCHERRY: The Territorial government is trying its best to improve the number of special educators in the UT to help mentally challenged children, said Chief Minister N Rangasamy here on Saturday.Addressing an event organised by the parents association for the mentally challenged and spastic persons, he said that the long-pending appointment of special educators at Kalapet special sch-ool had been completed. Similar measures would be initiated, across the UT.Special Secretary to Government Theva Neethi Thas said that the Territorial Government would write to the Centre to extend help, under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme,  to private day care centres that found it difficult to procure funds. Currently, the support was being extended only to the government-run centres in Karaikal and Puducherry.
