India's E-commerce market might still be warming up but online shopping is already showing some interesting trends.

New Delhi: India's E-commerce market might still be warming up but online shopping is already showing some interesting and promising trends.

EBay India, country's biggest online shopping website, recently announced Census 2010 which claims that out of their 2.5 million users,in the last one year, nearly a third came from rural locations. Most of these rural users buy entry level phones online followed by desktops and apparels.

According to eBay's census, Delhi is the number one E-Commerce City, Followed by Mumbai and Jaipur while Maharashtra is the number one state.

Interestingly Diamond rings are among India's favorite online purchase items while belly dance apparel is among the top exports.

Sites like eBay and futurebazaar.com are increasingly offering lucrative deals and sales to lure customers.An online sale featuring 40 laptop models on futurebaazar.com was a huge hit last month.

The website shipped 4000 units in one week making 10 crores.

In spite of the odds like low internet penetration in India, Online shopping is growing but railways still remains the largest contributor to e-commerce.

According to a latest report out of the 9000 crores transacted in e-commerce in India, 5500 crores were spend on buying travel tickets.

That by itself speaks volumes about the rising popularity of e-commerce shopping in India.
