DVS to Take Oath Today

BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will be taking oath as Legislative Council member on Tuesday.Gowda, who was elected to the Upper House in the recently held bypoll, will be administered oath at 12 noon by Council chairman D H Shankarmurthy. Gowda’s decision to take oath is being seen as part of a strategy to checkmate B S Yeddyurappa’s efforts to come to power. Yeddyurappa is said to be against Gowda continuing as a Council member. Since the CM was heading various committees in the Council, he had to take oath soon to conduct committee proceedings.Sources said, Gowda’s parliament membership would automatically expire within 15 days after he takes oath as the council member.
