ADILABAD: In an attempt to win over her lover, a 23-old-year girl climbed atop a water tank in the police headquarters at Bellampally in Adilabad district on Wednesday and threatened to jump off unless the boy agrees to marry her. After three hours of high drama, police were able to persuade her to come down.According to police, B Tirumala (23) of Contract Basti in Bellampally fell in love with one J Ravi of Himanath Nagar in Srirampur about two years back. The couple were working at adjacent shops but for the past a few weeks, Ravi has been avoiding Tirumala after she started asking him to marry her. Unable to persuade him, she launched a silent protest in front of Ravi's residence a couple of days ago but in vain.On Wednesday, Tirumala climbed up the water tank in Bellampally police headquarters demanding justice. She threatened to jump off the tank unless the police got her married to Ravi. After being persuaded for more than three hours and an assurance from Bellampally circle inspector Ravindra Reddy, she climbed down from the tank. Tirumala alleged that police had taken no action against Ravi and his family members despite filing complaints in Srirampur and Bellampally police stations.
