New Delhi: After gaining some first hand experience about the challenging climate in Doha, the Indian archers are confident that the recent exposure in the West Asian country would stand them in good stead during the Asian Games this December.
Ace archer Jayanta Talukdar, who was part of the eight-member Indian team that visited Doha from September 18 to 21 to attend some trials and get a feel of the climate there, said the knowledge about the climate should mentally prepare them for the Games in a better way.
"It's very windy and hot out there and it's difficult to shoot. In December, we were told, it is going to be more windy. So we have some idea about the climate and we can now prepare for the meet in a more planned way."
"Otherwise, we would have reached there expecting normal weather and got demoralised to see the adverse situations," Talukdar said on Sunday, just before the Indian team's departure to Beijing for the fourth World Cup from September 25 to 30.
The Tata Archery Academy trainee said it was good for the side to have a look at some of the prospective Asian Games opponents, such as Sri Lanka and hosts Qatar, during the visit.
Reaching the semi-finals in Beijing would see Talukdar qualify for the World Cup Finals in Mexico next month.
