HASSAN: The dismissed employees of Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) have alleged that the state government had failed to keep the promise of giving priority to them while recruiting. They said they would fight the issue in court. This follows state government's decision on the fate of dismissed employees of HIMS, which announced a provisional list of candidates based on the merit. As a result, only seven of the dismissed 307 candidates have retained their jobs. They complained that the Medical Education Minister A Ramadas had completely ignored the problems being faced by the dismissed employees. It may be recalled that the state government had cancelled the appointments of employees following alleged irregularities in their recruitment. It included flouting the rules of the roster system by the then principals, and issuing appointment letters on oral directions from the former district minister. The incident had lead to resignation of then medical education minister Ramachandra Gowda. On Thursday, sources said that Secretary of Medical Education Gopalakrishna Gowda had reportedly refused to sign the provisional list and wanted to give consent after studying the copy of the HC judgment.Another source informed that unqualified candidates, most well above the age limit, got appointments following the recommendation of the district minister.Fake SSLC and degree marks cards were allegedly furnished to grab the jobs in the institution.Expressing happiness over the decision, the candidates included in the provisional list, told Express that the government had finally delivered justice for the meritorious students."The government should announce the final list and issue the appointment letters," they added.
