CUTTACK/ATHGARH: A 22-year-old woman along with her 4-year-old daughter were found dead under mysterious circumstances at Bangerisingha village under Baramba block of the district on Sunday morning. The bodies were found floating in the Mahandi and fished out by the locals.The woman has been identified as Ashanti Lenka and her daughter Monalisa. Ashanti was the wife of Ramachandra Lenka of the same village who had died of cancer recently.Since then Ashanti had been working as a cook in the village school.Both the mother and daughter had reportedly gone missing for the last two days. Their whereabouts were not known till bodies were found. Police have sent the bodies for postmortem even as Ashanti’s kin have alleged foul play.Her brother Ajay Parida has filled an FIR with Maniabandha Police alleging murder. He has alleged that situational evidence and peripheral conditions have pointed to their killing and not suicide. The bodies allegedly bore blisters and injury marks and that both the bodies were found side by side.Police have registered a case and are investigation.
