KOTTAYAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Sunday strongly condemned the act of displaying a morphed flex board of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper in connection with the CPM state conference in Thiruvananthapuram.  The CPM should not have done it, he said and hoped that the party would realise the mistake and tender an apology for the act.The standard principle of a political party is to tender apology in such cases and it is hoped that the CPM would do so, he told reporters here. Morphing of US president and leaders of different political parties in the place of Jesus Christ and apostles is a clear case of disrespect meted out to a particular community, Chandy said.If the CPM thinks that the party would gain the support of the people by doing such things, then they are in for a shock, he said. There are several religions in the world and people have their own way of worshipping. Nobody should do anything to hurt the feelings of other people, he said. When asked why the CPM on the one hand praised the Christianity and on the other engaged in such practices, Chandy said: “They preach one thing and practise another.”
