CPI, VS are also Manis targets

THODUPUZHA: More ‘stirring’ speeches made by MM Mani, CPM Idukki district secretary, are surfacing which may land him deeper into trouble. In a speech made at Chinnakanal on May 25, he trained his guns not only on V S Achuthanandan but also on the CPI.Threatening the CPI men, he said they were spared from being beaten up as the party was an ally of the LDF and carrying the red flag.He lashed out  at his one-time mentor Achuthanandan for visiting slain RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan’s house and paying him tributes.Pooh-poohing Achuthanandan’s remarks that Chandrasekharan was a true communist, Mani asked how can somebody who betrayed the party be called a true communist. "That is why the party state secretary called him a traitor,’’  he said.Achuthanandan had also played a crucial role in igniting the controversial T P murder issue, he told the meeting.
