Court here issued summons to Punjab CM and 35 others.

Ludhiana: In fresh trouble for former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, a court here on Monday issued summons to him and 35 others in the multi-crore Ludhiana City Centre scam in which the state Vigilance Bureau had recently filed a charge sheet against them.

Besides Amarinder, District and Sessions Judge GK Rai issued summons to the former Chief Minister's son Raninder Singh, son-in-law Ramminder Singh, former local bodies minister Jagjit Singh and directed them to personally appear in the court on January 10 next.

No summons was issued against former Chairman of Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) P S Sibia who is absconding and has already been declared a proclaimed offender.

After a detailed scrutiny of the charge sheet, the court also issued summons to the officials of Today Homes Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Superintending Engineer, LIT, Manmohan Singh, Executive Officer, LIT, D C Garg and all the six trustees of the LIT.

Amarinder and others have been charged under various sections of the IPC relating to criminal breach of trust (409), cheating (420), forgery (465), forgery of valuable security (467), forgery for purpose of cheating (468), and using as genuine a forged document (471), criminal conspiracy (120-B) besides under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The Vigilance Bureau in its FIR had accused the former Chief Minister of violating all norms in patronising and abetting the dilution of terms and conditions for favouring a particular party in executing the project.
