BANGALORE: The Mahalakshmipura police arrested two youth for alleged extortion of money from high school students. Purushotham alias Bilal, 20,  of M G Yard slum in Basaveshwaranagar and Sharat, 19, of Laggere were arrested on Sunday.According to the police, the accused along with other two, Arun and Shivi, allegedly made friendship with high school students and learnt about their background. Later, they allegedly threatened them to bring money from home and extorted them. Recently, they learnt that one, Subramani’s sister was getting married and they demanded Rs 10,000 from him. The boy reportedly informed the matter to his father, Srinivasamurthy, who filed a complaint, leading to their arrest. Bilal allegedly has nexus with people with criminal background. Efforts are on to nab Arun and Shivi, who are absconding, the police added. Man found deadYashwant, 25, a native of Malur, ended his life by hanging himself at his residence at Indira Priyadarshini Nagar in Raja Gopala Nagar police station limits on Sunday evening. He was working at a private firm. The police said that he had got married about one-and-a-half year ago and had rented a house at Indira Priyadarshini Nagar. Police suspect Yashwant has taken this extreme step after his wife left to native on Sunday. He was found hanging at his home. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are further investigating in connection with the case.
