Cops bungle Arushi murder case, suspect found dead
In a glaring lapse, Noida Police failed to locate Hemraj's body lying on the terrace.

Noida: The shocking murder of 14-year-old Arushi Talwar, a student of class 9 of Delhi Public School, Noida, is getting murkier.

The dead body of prime suspect and Talwar’s domestic help, Hemraj, was found on the terrace of their home on Saturday.

In a glaring lapse, Hemraj's body was not found by the Noida Police, but by a neighbour who had come to express his condolence to the deceased's family.

"As a neighbour, I went to meet Arushi's family. I was posted as a DSP of the area during my career. But when I casually lo0oked around I found many clues. Then I looked at the room where the girl was killed, the servant’s room and bathroom. There also, I found many clues and blood stains. The blood stains led me to the stairs and then I went to the terrace. The door to the terrace was locked. No one had the keys so we broke open the lock and discovered the body. I was decomposing. His throat, too, was slit just like Arushi. Then I called up the SP (City) and SSP and told them that there are many clues. It seems that the servant was killed on the terrace and then his body was dragged and concealed," KK Gautam, who found the body and former Deputy Superintendent of Police, said.

Hemraj's murder has also raised many questions with the most obvious one being how did Noida Police miss the dead body lying on the terrace of the same house where Arushi's body was found?

And now that the main accused has been found murdered, who could be behind the gruesome crime? How did the parents sleep through two murders in the house? Will Noida Police now treat the parents as suspects?

Not discovering Hemraj's body has become a huge embarrassment for Noida Police and on Saturday night SP (City) Mahesh Kumar Mishra was transferred to Varanasi. Noida Station Officer Dattaram was shifted to police lines.

Additional SP Special Task Force Ashok Tripathy , Allahabad, will replace Mishra as Noida (City) SP.

Even though officials are not willing to explain to the media how they missed locating Hemraj's body, but Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Vikram Singh has come down heavily on Noida Police.

"I have had a word with the SSP and called for an explanation that there seems to be a bungling on part of the local police. How could one miss this link? In fact it is the most important piece of evidence," DGP Vikram Singh said.

He also said a new team will now investigate what is now apparently a double murder.

With Noida Police failing to locate Hemraj's body for nearly 30 hours and also some other vital clues, the mystery behind the murder of Arushi and the servant has only deepened.
